The internet is a great tool to research reviews that have been left for the company that you want to work with and of course, word of mouth referrals are always a great determining factor in choosing a company. Ask for 2 or 3 references from the company and follow up to see what their former clients have to say. You could also ask to visit a project that the company has in progress. Actually seeing the company in action can make the decision to hire them that much easier.
Review The Standard Contract From the Company
Is there a specified number of days that the company will allow the steel beams and cribbing to remain under the house? Is there a fee if the house cannot be moved in the specified time frame? Learn common fees and other terms in the contract.
Insurance
Check to see that the company is properly insured against accidents and loss or damage. Naturally, you will hire a company that carries the proper workers compensation insurance, but inquire about general liability, their umbrella policies, equipment/auto coverage, riggers or cargo insurance. Ask about limits and amounts of coverage.
